The story is based in the rural areas of Vietnam where crickets are usually kept as pet by children.
A boy with his pets (and also friends) dog and goose sang to the garden every morning to wake it up. One day, the three friends heard a cricket and made it join the songs by keeping it in a cage. The cricket stopped singing when locked which made the boy, dog and goose wonder why, They tried to cheer the cricket up to make it sing again. However, the cricket managed to escape to the garden. The three friends could not find the cricket but at the end of the day discovered where their singing friend and his song actually belonged to.
